Yesterday morning, 2009 Thailand (Qingdao) Exhibition, sponsored by Thailand Ministry of Commerce Export Promotion Bureau and Qingdao Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau and co-organized by Business Division of Thailand Consulate-General to Shanghai and Qingdao Foreign-invested Enterprises Association was open at Qingdao Convention Center. Business consul of Thailand Consulate-General to Shanghai Ph.D. Zhuang Paiji, assistant mayor of Qingdao Wu Tiejun, director of Qingdao Foreign Trade Bureau Sun Hengqin and other officials attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Thailand is an important economic cooperation partner of Qingdao, Qingdao and Thailand are highly complementary and the trade between the two sides are robust. In 2008 the trade volume between Qingdao and Thailand reached 987million USD. By present, Thailand has invested 65 projects in Qingdao with contract value of 258million USD and paid-in value of 208million USD. Director of Qingdao Foreign Trade Bureau Sun Hengqin hoped to facilitate more local enterprises and citizens to understand the society, economy and culture of Thailand through this exhibition and spur the economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Qingdao and Thailand.
It was learned that during the 4-day exhibition, 70 plus enterprises from Thailand will participate, and Thailand Tourism Bureau Beijing Office, Thailand Ministry of Agriculture Beijing Office and Qingdao's sister city Chiang Mai will set up booths at the exhibition. Many "Made in Thailand" products such as fruits, clothes, toy, cosmetic, stationery, household goods, adornment, jewelry and service industry and tourism will be showcased. And this exhibition will hold trade negotiation, Thailand painting show and Thailand tourism promotion lucky draw etc.
