| 18 Featured Streets to be built in Chengyang District

Qingdao Daily ? An investment plan of 563.4 million yuan has recently been announced by Chengyang District. It aims to build and form 18 blocks with different characteristics such as comprehensive services, food and leasure, folklore and local industry etc. One of those featured services is the automobile commercial street which is the first of its kind in the province. A finished and semi-finished jewelry street is unique in the city and an antique building block will also be the city's largest. The Qingte automobile cultural street, which will be the highlight of this year in Chengyang, is located east of Qingwei Road and north of Liqun Shopping Center. The project involves 380 million yuan and will be composed of four blocks: an automotive business office area, a high-end auto show area, a consumer experience zone and the supporting service area. The total construction area will be 72,819 square meters. It consists of two development and construction stages, with construction floors reaching from the basement to the 12th floor. The first stage includes a building area of 43,672 square meters and is expected to be completed in October. The shops along the street and their equipments will be installed by the end of the year. According to the person in charge of the Finance and Trade Bureau of Chengyang District, the project mainly relies on Qingte Group, the city's automobile industry core company, that will focus on the automobile research and development, automotive convention and exhibition, car consumption, and the auto culture show as its main attractions while the food, shopping, leisure, and entertainment are complementary for creating a complex of eating, drinking, recreation, and shopping for car-owners. The street planning, which integrates local resources and local conditions to create different characteristics, is a relatively mature approach. Chengyang has successively built the Houtian beer Street, Liuting jewelry Street, Jihongtan quality product Street, and Hetao seafood Street in Jiaozhou Bay, which are gradually becoming suburban travel attactions, and has made them well-known in neighborhoods bringing a strong flow of people and stimulating the urban economic development. An example of forming new resources out of traditional culture is the use of the legend of Hu Yiyang. Hu Yiyang ancient cultural street features mainly antiques and paintings. Another example of taking geographical advantages is using the natural landscape of Mao Gong Mountain to create a red farmhouse Street. The example of taking the folklore as resources is the Han Folk Village as the base to explore the cultural history of salt mining and fishery and to build a series of cultural exhibitions on salt fish, special catering, accommodations, conferences, and film shootings into one block of antique buildings. An example of taking advantage of competitive industries and resources are the constructions of Liuting jewelry Street, South Korean style food street, the ecological Jiaozhou small Seafood Street, ... Today, at least one featured street can be found in every block of Chengyang. In order to manage them, Chengyang District has also established a management team for the constructions of the featured service streets, which has an overall responsibility for the construction and management. According to the relevant personnel of the leading group office, through the transformation of the original street as well as by taking advantage of the new integration of resources, Chengyang will foster the building of one state-level featured block, three city-level featured blocks, and ten district-level ones in three years. Those projects will take advantage of the featured services blocks to gain popularity, stimulate consumption and increase the employment, which will help Chengyang to become the new consumer center in Qingdao.
