Yesterday morning, the municipal 89 anniversary commemoration rally of May 4 Movement and 86 anniversary of the CYL was held at the municipal organ conference center, top municipal officials Ma Ze, Ma Shizhong, Song Xiuqi, senior officials of troops stationed in Beijing Guo Zhiqiang and Ren Yanbo together with more than 600 youth elites from all walks of life attended the event.
Vice mayor Ma Shizhong delivered a speech. Representing the CPC Qingdao Committee, Qingdao municipality, he expressed his festival greeting and good wishes to the general members of the CYL and youth and delivered his congratulation to the outstanding collectives and personnel who were rewarded at the meeting. He noted that the May 4 Movement, which broke out 89 years ago, is a grand anti-imperialist and anti-feudal patriotic movement. As the origin place of the movement, Qingdao will mobilize all citizens especially the CYL members to inherit the May 4 tradition, uphold May 4 spirits and push forwards the undertaking initiated by the revolutionary predecessors and to make contribution to the new round development in Qingdao and the success of the Olympic Sailing Regatta. He pointed out that the most priority is to host the Olympic Sailing Regatta, we shall concentrate on development to realize the great renascence of the Chinese nation. The great undertaking requires us to convert our patriotism passion to the patriotism ambition and actions and to make concrete contribution to the Olympic Sailing Regatta and the city development.
The meeting required the Party committee and government units in each level shall attach great importance to the youth and the youth work from a height of the long-term development of the Party and the nation, they shall keep the general cadres of the CYL and provide platform, create conditions and solve problems for their personal development. The CYL units in each level and the general CYL members shall continue to enhance their comprehensive merits and self-cultivation to grow up in according with the Party requirements. He hoped that the general youth shall take the lead to implement the strategic arrangement of the 10th municipal Party congress to contribute their passion and innovation power to the social and economic development, the youth shall participate in the volunteer activities with the volunteer spirits of devotion, friendship, cooperation and progress and the Olympic spirits of solidarity, friendship and peace to make their contribution to host a characteristic high-profile Olympic Sailing Regatta. He also hoped that the general youth could be a power to safeguard the social stability, which is a way to show their patriotism.
