The track cycling finals of the 26th Shandong Provincial Sports Games were held in Hedong District, Linyi, from June 30 to July 4, bringing together 180 athletes from 11 cities across the province for five days of intense competition. Qingdao’s track cycling team delivered a record-breaking performance, winning seven gold, three silver and three bronze medals — its best result in the history of the Games.
The track cycling competition featured men’s and women’s Group A and Group B categories with events including the team sprint, individual time trial, sprint, team pursuit and omnium. The program tested the riders’ explosive power, endurance, tactical coordination and composure under pressure. Facing some of Shandong’s traditionally strong teams, Qingdao’s riders and coaches delivered a focused and determined campaign to translate their training into strong performances on the track while showcasing the squad’s competitive strength and team spirit.
The result reflects the Qingdao track cycling team’s sustained hard work and determination as well as the city’s long-term investment in youth competitive sport and the development of a strong talent pipeline for track cycling. Looking ahead, the team will aim to build on this momentum, reach new heights and secure further honours at competitions across all levels to contribute to the continued growth of sport in Qingdao.
