QINGDAO DAILY, July 5 — The China National Virtual Reality Innovation Center (Qingdao) and the IEC China Committee (CEC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement at the 2nd International Esports Development Forum, held in Beijing as part of the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC), formally establishing a strategic partnership, the Laoshan District authorities announced on Sunday afternoon.
The partnership will combine the China National Virtual Reality Innovation Center (Qingdao)’s strengths in research and technological innovation with the CEC’s expertise in industry resource integration, event organisation and global promotion. Together, the two sides aim to expand virtual sports applications and advance immersive esports experiences.
As the International Esports Committee (IEC)’s official body in China, the CEC works to deepen the integration of esports with education, technology and culture while promoting the healthy, regulated and international development of China’s esports industry. The China National Virtual Reality Innovation Center (Qingdao), a national-level VR innovation platform approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People’s Republic of China State Council, is committed to supporting the digital economy as it continues to strive for the vigorous expansion of industrial applications of VR technology across esports, sports, education and other sectors. Going forward, the centre will deepen cross-industry collaboration, foster an open and mutually beneficial ecosystem, and support the high-quality development of the digital economy.
