Qingdao Airlines Boosts Aircraft Utilization by 10.4% While Safeguarding Nearly One Million Travelers During Summer Travel Period
Qingdao Government | SEPTEMBER 04,2025

The summer travel season spanning July 1 to August 31, 2025 has concluded with a successful bang for Qingdao Airlines. Ranked among the best 10 carriers in the industry, Qingdao Airlines transported nearly 1 million passengers amid soaring demand, accumulating 17,932 flight hours and achieving an 84.2% average load factor with an on-time performance of 88.13%. Aircraft availability improved markedly, with utilization rising 10.4% year-on-year which reflected the carrier's stable, safe, and efficient operations, as well as its enhanced service quality as Qingdao Airline continues to shine with its Reception Room in the Sky service concept to attract travelers both local and abroad.

Strategic Planning to Meet Peak Travel Demand

Qingdao Airlines anticipated this year's peak travel curve and optimized its route network accordingly, introducing 13 new domestic and international routes—including Qingdao–Xining, Qingdao–Hohhot, and Chengdu Tianfu–Weihai–Changchun flights—and increased frequencies on popular Northeast and Southeast Asian routes. These adjustments significantly boosted capacity, providing stronger air transport support for business, cultural exchange, and tourism.

Toward Northeast Asia, routes such as Qingdao–Seoul and Qingdao–Jeju together form a high-speed air corridor. Toward Southeast Asia, the direct Qingdao–Kuala Lumpur service launched on July 9, 2024 has operated smoothly and has seen load factors climb further since the implementation of the China–Malaysia visa-exemption policy on July 17, 2025, establishing it as a vital air bridge linking Qingdao with Southeast Asia.

Service Enhancements Shine In Qingdao Airline's Reception Room in the Sky Service Concept

During the summer travel season, Qingdao Airlines adhered to its service philosophy of providing heartfelt and sincere care by upgrading the quality of both cabin and ground services. Attention to detail enhanced passenger comfort and satisfaction, allowing travelers to experience the warmth and charm of the airline's Reception Room in the Sky cabin service concept. In the cabin, themed flights such as "Glorious Nostalgia with Legacy of Red", "Tribute To Loved Ones", and Mile-High Summer Fun" enriched the in-flight experience and earned wide praise.

On the ground, Qingdao Airlines focused on streamlining procedures and improving service quality. Dedicated check-in counters for unaccompanied minors and elderly passengers reduced waiting times for special travelers. Most notably, the airline's first successful guide dog transport marked a significant step in safeguarding the travel rights of passengers with special needs.

Baggage claim was further optimized through the deployment of baggage service staff, prominent signage, and proactive inquiry services to ensure faster and safer delivery. The rate of baggage mix-ups on arriving flights at Qingdao Airport fell by 25% during the summer season when compared with the previous year.

Maintaining Safety and Efficiency Throughout Operations

Qingdao Airlines maintained its safety-first principle throughout the summer season, rigorously implementing Civil Aviation Administration requirements and reinforcing flight safety, aviation security, and operational risk management protocols with emergency drills, improved crew coordination, and strengthened aircraft maintenance to keep operations efficient and stable.

Qingdao Airlines' expanded route coverage and strengthened connectivity during the summer season facilitated trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between coastal and inland regions as well as domestic and international markets. With solid operational capacity and quality service, the airline successfully fulfilled its transport mission that not only underscores Qingdao Airlines' growing operational strength but also supports the city's ambitions to build an international aviation hub and drive regional economic growth. Looking ahead, the carrier plans to further optimize its route network and service standards, offering passengers safer, more convenient, and more comfortable travel experiences.
