Recently, two core process modules of Canada LNG project built by Offshore Oil Engineering Co Ltd (COOEC) were delivered in Qingdao. As one of the first core process modules in the world to adopt integrated construction, COOEC has overcome the technical difficulties of joint design and construction of core process modules and pipe rack modules, independently implemented the first domestic LNG core process module degreasing operation, and achieved a number of process technology innovations, marking the world leading position of China in LNG modular plant construction capacity.
As high as a 16-storey building and each one weighing as an Eiffel Tower, the two AGRU core process modules are mainly used for feed gas pretreatment: acid gas removal, which provides important protection to the safe production of whole LNG factory. Compared with the traditional mode in which the pipe rack and the core process module are designed and constructed separately and connected at the production site, the new process of integrated construction of the core process module and the pipe rack module can greatly improve the degree of module integration, which can reduce the on-site installation workload by half and has obvious advantages in overall construction period and cost control.
The first phase of the project includes two production lines with an annual LNG production capacity of 13 million metric tons. Once operational, the project will supply high-quality LNG to Asia and will help diversify China's natural gas import channels. COOEC is contracted to build 35 modules for the project, including all the 19 core process modules with total weight about 178,830 tons. Among them, the first core process module was shipped to the installation site of the Canadian project in this March. At present, all the 35 modules are in the final assembly stage and the overall construction is near 80%.
Over 50 shipbuilding and oceaneering enterprises including COOEC, CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Diesel Engine Co Ltd and Qingdao Haixi Heavy-Duty Machinery etc. have established their business presence at Qingdao West Coast New Area Haixi Bay Shipbuilding and Oceaneering Industrial Base, making it one of the three national shipbuilding bases in China. In the next stage, Qingdao West Coast New Area will continue to promote the development of shipbuilding and oceaneering to the direction of deep water, environmental friendly, intelligence and safety and assist more high end Chinese manufacturers go global.
